If you guys don’t like FMA 2003, it’s really not a difficult task to leave it alone.
Every time I get all excited about the first anime (which I do. Because I like the first anime), it’s almost as if there’s this unspoken law that FIRST I MUST ACKNOWLEDGE EVERY SINGLE THING WRONG WITH IT before my opinion can be valid. It’s like I have to hail the manga as the paragon of virtue before I can say anything good about FMA 2003, or talk about how much of a positive effect it had on me.
How about everyone back off for a second.
Does everyone think people haven’t already pointed out the things currently being pointed out? Because they have, and in a much more respectful manner than what I’ve seen lately. Does everyone think people don’t point it out incessantly and rudely every day as if their very life depends on it? Is everyone under some wild impression that repeating the exact same things over and over again, with flailing capslock and “HOW DARE YOU ALL LIKE THIS SERIES THAT I DON’T LIKE” is going to make everyone share an opinion?
Nobody is denying the problems in FMA 2003, and nobody is telling you not to point them out in a reasonable manner. In fact, all I see is something else entirely: people championing Brotherhood as the ~*ultimate series*~ and refusing to acknowledge any wrongs committed by Arakawa-sensei. whoa like I’m sorry, are we forgetting the times she treated Garfiel as the ‘homosexual predator’? Because that was pretty fucking blatant, and the Brotherhood fandom seems to be silent about that one.
It’s on this very site that I see people say things like “It’s okay to like problematic media as long as you don’t excuse it” but it seems like FMA 2003 is the only exception to that rule or something, because apparently we aren’t allowed to like it without being treated with condescension and outright shittiness.
I love both series equally, and without restraint. But I swear to god, the Brotherhood fandom leaves me feeling so awful almost every single day, because I can’t get past you guys wanting me to feel bad about liking the series that I like. I feel unwelcome in my own fandom and that feels like shit.
Christ, I’m almost begging you people now.
Stop being so unnecessarily provocative and just leave us alone.
